A Moose’s Worth of Pears
Sep 25th, 2009 by Laurel Atkinson
No, silly, we didn’t pick pears to feed a moose. But we picked as many pears as an adult female moose weighs. HOLY (moose) COW!
Yesterday afternoon, eight hardy volunteers helped Not Far From the Tree pick a record of 557 pounds. AND there was still a good deal left on the tree (….not for lack of trying!)
Each volunteer walked or biked away with a full tote bag of the most amazing bosc pears. Thanks so much to the wonderful homeowners who made this possible! In addition to the agencies we regularly donate to, some of the fruit will be donated to tomorrow’s Human Train, a rally calling for clean electric trains (not diesel) on any railroad expansion along the Georgetown corridor.
