A sneak peek at tomorrow’s Edible Tree Tour

At this time tomorrow, we’ll be meandering through Cedarvale Ravine, nibbling on our urban forest”s edible offerings as we go. It’s the fifth annual (woohoo!) Edible Tree Tour, in partnership with LEAF and Not Far From The Tree. For the third year in a row, the tour kicks off from the community orchard at Ben Nobleman Park.

The three tour leaders (Amanda Gomm of LEAF, Susan Poizner of Growing for Green, and myself) gave a sneak peek of the tour to Corey Mintz at the Star. Not only did he write up a story about it, but he also used some of the edibles picked during our preview tour for dinner with arborist Todd Irvine, reporter Dale Duncan, and gardener Lorraine Johnston. Their dinner discussion went deep into the plight of city trees as they sipped sumac-ade with their carnitas.
