Fruit picking projects are taking root all over

That’s a wonderful perk of my job – connecting with similar projects in other parts of the world. After all, fruit trees grow on a good portion of this planet’s surface and so this model translates easily.
New fruit tree projects are popping up all the time, and I’m proud to say that Not Far From The Tree is sometimes credited with sparking the idea. We learned about a similar model that a few groups in BC were using at the time that we got started. At that time there was one such group in Ontario (the Hamilton Fruit Tree Project) and now they’re popping up everywhere! It’s amazing to see how people are taking the idea and running with it.
This year also marks the first season for another new group, Hidden Harvest Ottawa. I’ve been chatting over the winter and spring to share the experience of starting Not Far From The Tree. Can’t wait to compare notes about how the season goes!
