Edible Toronto, literally.
Jul 8th, 2009 by Laura Reinsborough
Yes, the city is edible. In fact, if you pick the right parts, it’s quite tasty!
Check out the Summer 2009 issue of Edible Toronto. Not only is there an article about Not Far From The Tree, but the magazine is fruit-themed almost all the way through. There are figs on the cover, a couple of articles about cherries, and a beautiful piece about the community orchard by Susan of Growing for Green.
In other news, Green Living Magazine has published a piece about fruit tree projects across the country, putting Not Far From The Tree’s work into national perspective. We weren’t the first to put this idea into motion, and have learned a lot from groups in BC and Hamilton, ON. Now groups around Ontario are calling us to find out how to set up similar projects in their cities and towns, so you can expect the local fruit revolution to get bigger yet!

Hi,
I would like to volunteer for you guys, and I’ve filled out the volunteer form on this website, but I don’t know if it went through. Can you please contact me.
Cheers,
Dan
Hi Laura! I hope the cherry season’s treating you well. One day I will make it to Toronto and be able to come along on a harvest. And, thank you for introducing ‘scrumpin’ into my vocabulary!
Sincerely,
Asiya from Forage Oakland
