The Great Big Crunch

Attention, all teachers!
Foodshare’s amazing apple-crunching extravaganza has been extended until March 31st! If you’re looking for a fun way to teach about local food systems, healthy eating, composting, and other such wonderful apple-related topics, then you won’t want to miss out on this great event that you can host in your very own classroom.

Thousands have already crunched since the event kicked off on March 6th, and there’s still time to participate. Check out all of the details here. This event has been organized by the wonderful and ever imaginative Meredith Hayes, who has continuously lent her support to not far from the tree.
I’m so proud of my sister who held the Great Big Crunch in her Grade 1 classroom in New Brunswick. Not only did she have all of her students crunch, but she convinced the whole school to participate. Apples were donated from a local orchard with help from a dentist in the community. My sister went in early Monday morning to count all of the apples for the different classes in the school. The only hitch in their plans was that the PA system wasn’t working, so they couldn’t indulge in one giant, magnified, collective ”CRUNCH!”
